Unfortunately, I still cannot modify anything on the Vista computer from the XP computer. I could then restart the Zune service without losing this ability. This removed the media sharing device and created the computer and its files and allowed me to view, copy and edit all of the XP files from the vista computer.
I could only see the Media sharing device on the network, not the computer or any of its files, until I first deactivated the Zune service on the XP machine. Initially I could not see the XP machine from the Vista machine. Make sure the disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not currently in use." when attempting to copy a file from the XP computer to the Vista computer.
On the XP computer I get the error message "Access is denied. I can see all of the shared files and folders on the Vista machine from the XP machine but I cannot add or modify anything. I am having issues file sharing between my Windows Vista Desktop and my Windows XP laptop.
